Distribution Project Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer for our Distribution team in Columbus, OH. Initial expectations are for this individual to perform project work and develop local client relationships.

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

The qualified candidate will have experience with common utility standards, the ability to use design software packages and general construction knowledge and aptitude. The candidate will be responsible for performing designs on both overhead and underground distribution systems (4 kV to 35 kV), performing calculations, interpreting codes and standards, creating construction packages and performing quality control reviews. He or she should be capable of working both independently and within a team framework. The candidate will be expected to deal directly with clients and therefore he or she must have strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills. Some travel should be expected.

Required Education/Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 35 kV).

  • Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop client relationship, write proposals and manage projects from a technical and administrative perspective.

  • The ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters.

Desired Education/Experience

  • An Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology

  • Prior utility experience

  • Exposure to utility Geographical Information Systems (GIS); Maximo, GE Smallworld, ArcFM, DDS etc.
