Cognosante is looking for qualified candidates that desire to take the next step in their career by driving the success of integration and health information exchange (HIE) solutions utilizing InterSystems IRIS and HealthShare platforms.
What is the position?
The Interface Engineer will assist in delivering solutions for healthcare/ HIE /life sciences use cases. This roll will assist in the enterprise application integration that goes beyond building the typical HL7v2, X12, or IHE integration projects common in the industry, that avoids reinventing the wheel and drives innovation with every solution you build. As a team member you will share your knowledge and expertise with other intelligent professionals with diverse technical backgrounds, while you hone your skills, learning from other colleagues. Using InterSystems platforms this role will really dig into internals and make capabilities accessible to those that are more general in their skillsets using whatever technologies and programming languages will best get the job done. This role will take responsibility of seeing solutions through to completion working with a team that is diverse in geography, skills and experience to assure synergistic success. The Interface Engineer will work with hospitals and other healthcare system organizations. The engineer will be client facing and will be involved in scoping, configuration, development, testing and deployment.
What will I get to do?
Define and develop solutions for HIE customers, leveraging the InterSystems Iris and HealthShare platform
Use your knowledge of healthcare use cases and integration solutions to optimize onboarding of partners and expansion of HIE use cases being delivered
Leverage your knowledge of standards such as HL7, X12, IHE, NCPDP, CCDA, TEFCA and FHIR to optimize how we onboard partners and create efficient operations for a growing HIE practice
Independently take projects to completion
Be (or become) an expert in InterSystems technologies and solution delivery
Assist other Cognosante teammates in growing their knowledge and skillsets
Analyze new use cases and assist in the creating of solution designs that leverage the HIE platform for effective, scalable operations
What qualifications do I need?
US Citizen, living in the continental US Citizen, able to work remotely in Central Time Zone and able to pass a background investigation.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University (typically in computer science, software engineering or another related field)
8+ year’s professional experience in Software Development
Experience with HIE and integration platforms used within the health services industry (e.g., InterSystems, Medicity, Orion, etc.)
Experience with one or more data interchange formats or standards commonly used in the industry (XML, JSON, HL7 v2.x, CDA, IHE profiles, NCPDP (telecommunications or SCRIPT), X12N, FHIR, etc.)
Experience with the following ITI Transactions:
Provider Alert Roster Processing
Outbound Direct Secure Messaging, specifically Secure Exchange
Inbound CCD
PIX
PnR
QnR
Experience with the following ITI Transactions for
Familiar with end to end XCA workflow
Familiarity with relational & non-relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, Mongo DB, Dynamo, Cassandre, IRIS/Caché
Knowledge of common healthcare clinical data integration scenarios
Effective communicator capable of leading clear, audience focused, discussion with internal staff and customers
What additional characteristics will help me thrive?
Graduate work in a discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, Machine Learning or Data Sciences
Experience with InterSystem technology stack (IRIS/Caché, HealthShare, Ensemble)
Experience developing APIs, RPCs and clinical application code using Caché Mumps or Object Script
Familiar with SOAP and RESTful services
Good understanding of InterSystems platform internals including HSPI, HealthInsights, DeepSee, iKnow, HealthShare push messaging framework, InterSystems FHIR Server
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, EAI patterns, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
Experience delivery cloud hosted (AWS / AWS Gov Cloud, Azure, etc.) solutions
Experience in creating well documented and maintainable solutions
Solid understanding of version control principles
Experience with Agile Frameworks such as Scrum
Client focused with a desire to deliver success for clients and stakeholders.
Innovative thinker who enjoys solving complex problems
Motivated self-starter who drives tasks to completion and takes ownership of tasks / solutions / projects
Ability to think clearly and develop / propose efficient solutions to sometimes ambiguous problems

Compensation
$113,927.72 - $187,981.83
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees.
