Position Summary

The Installation Project Manager is responsible for developing and leading the Technical Installation Team with the aim to increase the technical service and sales support for the ANZ business and ensure that the installation project pipeline is achieved. Work closely with builders & contractors to assist in securing new business and retaining current business. This position is also responsible for leading Major or Minor Project Installation for ANZ by providing project management and installation services. They are responsible for meeting or exceeding customers’ expectations through execution of an installation plan. Develop training plans & identify training needs for employees and subcontractors, the quality of the installation and customer satisfaction.

The Installation Project Manager will represent STERIS Corporation and its interests in job-site decisions affecting daily operations. This includes delivering installations and ensuring Customer satisfaction with STERIS throughout the process, from pre-installation through start up. Provide Technical support in the preparation of Tenders and requests for information and troubleshoot assistance (remote and/or on-site) to Field Service Representatives for challenging breakdown issues.

Duties

  • Responsibility for managing the activities of the Technical Installation Team in ANZ to ensure job functions are properly delegated and efficient operations to increase the technical and sales support for the ANZ business and ensure that the installation project pipeline is achieved.

  • Plans, organizes, directs and controls all costs of installation and subcontracting for assigned projects. Coordinates resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects.

  • Provides detailed scope of work and instructions to installers and subcontractors. Verifies understanding of project expectations. Ensures appropriate product training is available / implemented for skill gaps within in-house or subcontractor staff to enable proper installation of STERIS product.

  • Coordinates equipment start-up by Field Service Representative in conjunction with District Service Manager. Notifies Sales and/or clinical Representative of equipment readiness for customer in-service training. Ensures job completion documentation is completed and seamless transition to service is achieved.

  • Maintains allocation of costs to financial reporting systems. Effectively communicates financial and physical project status to management. Manages and provides documentation for the project management file including correspondence, requests for information and timelines. Produces high quality communications adhering to company standards.

  • Routinely walks job site and attends progress and coordination meetings to ensure quality installation of product. Proactively evaluates potential problems on the job and initiates action to limit negative outcomes. Uses negotiation skills to consistently resolve disputes without the need for escalation. Verifies with customer that expectations will be met or exceeded through execution of plan

  • Provides estimates or negotiates work outside original scope. Reviews customer’s systems during installation and if needed points out opportunities for improvement resulting in value-added change orders. Pursues, secures and closes change-orders for equitable adjustments to contracts.

  • Develops and conducts periodic product specific and technical skill training to Field Service Representatives, Contractors and Customers. Participates in regular product and computer skills update and new product release training to maintain and enhance technical support skills.

  • Develops and maintains viable relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, subcontractors and trade personnel. Communicates with architects, equipment planners, and consultants for the purpose of influencing equipment recommendations and specifications relative to installation. Attend conferences as required.

Required Experience

  • Ability to travel as required

  • Knowledge of ANZ electrical standards and requirements

  • Knowledge of engineering processes including design change control, documentation and complaint handling.
