Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing Management Information Specialist in United States

Summary This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development, Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing. Responsibilities As a/an Management Information Specialist, you will: Responsible for the management and administrative functions related to microcomputer installation and shipping, site preparation for local area network and other ADP equipment installations, and inventory monitoring and control. Must ensure timely support to users in the Field Offices and Headquarters on a daily basis. Monitors progress of ongoing projects in REAC and keeps Directors informed of progress as well as problems and recommended solutions. Ensures coordination of REAC projects with other elements of the Center and appropriate offices within and outside of HUD to promote efficiency and cooperation and to ensure timely accomplishment of goals and objectives. Develops and administers a microcomputer installation quality control program for REAC and the Field. Responsibilities include development of installation checklists, implementation of on-site inspection programs, and evaluation of HUD standard equipment in order to recommend needed modification. As a senior systems and information experts, provides assistance on data system issues; develops and provides training on new programs and updates; and trains staff in recognizing deficiencies in automated systems. Troubleshoots the most complex and difficult ADP problems, recommending and implementing solutions. Interfaces and consults with the Administration staff and/or Office of Information Technology to resolve hardware issues and needs. Specialized Experience: For the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Providing advice and guidance on data processing projects and software issues affecting the program office; AND - Conducting analysis of systems to determine the nature of system requirements and whether or not new systems or enhancements should be developed; AND - Assisting in developing and implementing data processing methods and techniques which are utilized in management information activities. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
