Job Description

Job Responsibilities

40%: Molecular biology work (RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and cloning)

20%: Plant assays (plant transformation)

20%: Protein work (western blot yeast 2 hybrid, Co-IP)

10%: Writing report manuscript and presentations 5%: Lab and supplies maintenance

5%: Other duties as assigned

Required Education:

PhD degree in molecular biology, plant pathology, entomology, or a related field with an emphasis in molecular biology

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Ability to maintain good laboratory practice and participate in maintenance of insect colony and plants.

Ability to develop new strategies for control of plant pathogens and insect pests.

Ability to focus on laboratory activities.

Strong organizational skills to keep record of the different projects under development in the lab. Ability to work independently and as effective members of multidisciplinary collaborative teams; collaborating with research staff, post-docs, graduate students, and other trainees.

Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
