As a Principal Quality Engineer , you'll play a vital role in enhancing Medtronic's approach to preventing issues in both products and processes. Your primary focus will be on identifying and mitigating risks effectively.

This Hybrid Flex position (requiring onsite presence for 3 days a week) is available at any Medtronic manufacturing facility in North America.

A Day in the Life

  • Lead projects to drive reduction of factory escape risks at internal and external factories.

  • Drive elimination of rework or re-processing steps and improvement of value stream stability.

  • Define, implement, and improve First Time Quality (FTQ) program and governance.

  • Collaborate on the design of new manufacturing lines or equipment that embeds FTQ at the source.

  • Implement FTQ for the improvement of non-manufacturing, transactional flows.

  • Partners with management to lead quality initiatives that develop and maintain a high performing, scalable, and compliant Quality System.

  • Interprets government regulations, agency guidelines, and internal policies to assure compliance.

  • Partners with Subject Matter Experts to drive development of clear objectives for education packages that improve competency.

  • Establishes meaningful metrics.

  • Consults on development of quality improvements and recommends alternatives.

  • Program management responsibilities may include planning, resourcing, providing status for, resolving issues, and identifying project risks for multiple work streams.

  • Ensures results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule, and cost.

  • Travel up to 25%

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have

Additionally, the following skills and qualifications are desirable:

  • B.S. in engineering or science discipline.

  • 5+ years’ experience working in medical device (highly regulated) environment.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification

  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and planning.

  • 3+ years’ experience managing projects.

  • Demonstrated excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills (oral/presentation and written).

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, quantitative analysis, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated high degree of initiative and influence management skills.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading projects to completion.
