Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Laboratory Quality Inspector in United States

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Quality Inspector to work in our MFC Quality department. Our team works an onsite 4x10s schedule with every Friday off. This position will be located at MFC but assignments may be require mobility to cover all INL locations. After hours and weekend overtime work may be required to support the INL mission. You will report to MFC Quality Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical support to quality engineering on various experiments, set up and operate a variety of inspection equipment.
  • Advise researchers on quality plan requirements aligned to meet quality requirements and as needed, review and approve plans included in fabrication packages.
  • Provide independent quality assurance inspection and surveillance functions in compliance with policies, procedures, customer requirements, and work control plans at INL and subcontractor facilities. Inspections may consist of visual, mechanical, electrical, electronic, welding, dimensional, and other related reviews of products, materials, or drawings.
  • Ensure items are within calibration and suitability for use of the measurement equipment being used.
  • Perform work to instructions provided in inspection planning packages and as directed by management.
  • Provide support in various administrative functions such as non-conformance reporting, tracking, trending, assessments, and records management.
  • Review materials and equipment received or fabricated against purchase/design specifications to ensure acceptability.
  • Communicate any issues found to the quality engineering team.
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to quality engineering staff on the correct application of inspection discipline and technique.
  • Assure that work is compliant to requirements by verifying and validating work performed by others.
  • Mentor other technicians as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalency. Associate degree in technical field from an accredited institution preferred.
  • 6 years relevant quality inspector experience
  • Experience in Nondestructive Examination Techniques (MT, UT, ET, VT, PT, etc.)
  • Depending on work assignment, must be a US Citizen. Obtain and maintain the proper DOE clearance as required by the facility supported.
  • As applicable, obtain and maintain all required job-related exam and position qualifications.
  • NDT Certificate or another Vocational Certificate preferred
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 4 ($29.46 - $48.61) / Level 5 ($34.47 - $56.87). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
