Description
PingWind is seeking a qualified Senior Linux Administrator to serve in an advisory role to a high-level government official at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), supporting large complex programs.
Candidates must possess technical and testing expertise with a strong Linux background, to include installation, configuration management, backup strategies and maintenance of Linux operating systems. Candidates must also have a background in VMware’s virtual environment and experience in VMware configuration management, VMware backup, and other VMware system management duties.
Responsibilities
Serve as a senior-level consultant and support specialist, when needed
Primarily focus on testing, management, strategy, process improvement, customer satisfaction, operations, and/ or the implementation of solutions
Manage complete projects, involving multiple products and virtual computer environments
Work as a project leader on various size projects with the ability to perform in a highly collaborative environment with tight deadlines, and sometimes, limited resources
Develop complex technical approaches to testing and identifies new cost saving methods to leverage resources while providing a high level of output
Utilize project management skills of communication, presentation, time management, organization, and planning to successfully implement project-based solutions
Regularly develop testing documentation, procedures and reports on all project activities and issues
Identify new opportunities to sell consulting services to customers
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree or related business field with 10+ years of Linux Administration background; 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
U.S. Citizenship; Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Background Investigation
Strong background in Virtual VMware environment
Strong background in Ansible deployments
Ownership mentality and is a self-starter with high level of drive
Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Extreme attention to detail and high standard of excellence/quality for all work products
Expert-level communicator who knows how to manage expectations proactively and clearly, both internally and externally, oral and written
Knows when to ask for help
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with InterSystems Caché and/or IRIS for Health
or similar government organization experience
Consulting experience
