MKS Instruments Inc Senior Technical Project Manager in United States

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Senior Technical Project Manager at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you play a key role in the design, development and delivery of cutting-edge optical sensor solutions required for advanced semiconductor fabrication. In this role, you will report to the Director, Engineering.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Being accountable for the successful delivery of technology and product development projects against the goals, timelines and budgets set by the business and project customers to enable achievement of strategic initiatives.

  • Leading, directing, and mentoring other project managers and the wider Engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and manufacturing, to define project objectives, scope, and success criteria, ensuring alignment with product strategy and market needs.

  • Compiling and maintaining detailed plans, schedules and budgets ensuring adherence to timeline and resource allocations. Prioritizing and managing dependencies as required to maximize value to customers.

  • Preparing and presenting reports, dashboards, and presentations to senior management, providing insights into project status, key milestones, and performance against project goals.

  • Defining and communicate project governance frameworks specific to product development, including stage-gate processes, resource allocation, risk management, and performance metrics.

  • Developing and maintaining product development policies, procedures, and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency in project delivery across the Engineering organization.

Skills You Bring:

  • 7+ years’ experience as an engineer working in a high technology and/or new product development environment.

  • 7+ years’ experience in program / project management with a successful track record of leading complex projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics or technical equivalent.

  • Skilled in portfolio management, including project prioritization, resource allocation, risk management and stakeholder communication. Able to proactively identify and mitigate potential roadblocks.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent problem solver with the ability to see multiple ways of tackling a problem, innovative, out-of-the-box thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.

  • Strong understanding of product development methodologies including stage-gate review processes.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software applications used in product development environments.

  • Strong decision making, negotiating, conflict resolution, and change management skills. Ability to stand-alone.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with photonics, optical measurement techniques, or semiconductor wafer fabrication processing.

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Physics or technical equivalent preferred.

  • Proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or Scrum.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.

Compensation:Salary Pay Range: $84,000.00 - $156,000.00 CAD per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
