Sr Staff Application Engineer
Job Description
In your daily work you will handle the following activities:
● Develop necessary hardware and software to enable comprehensive silicon device evaluation: PCB schematic and layout design, automation software
● Conduct power IC evaluations and debugging on chip and board level
● Create technical documents (datasheet, evaluation report, application note)
● Plan and lead device evaluation, develop manual and automated bench test methods
● Document errata to support necessary device modifications
● Support internal design engineers, FAEs, and external customers to solve technical issues
● Work with technical marketing, system architect, and design engineers to define IC functions and specifications
● Provide first line technical support and reports during customer design phase
● Work with Quality, Test, and Product engineers for device testing and qualification

Qualifications
The following experience is required to be successful in this position:
● Extensive hands-on experience with power device verification and performance evaluation
● Results-oriented and able to manage time efficiently and complete tasks on schedule
● Degree level qualification in E&E engineering or a related discipline
● 5+ years (senior engineer level) or 8+ years (principal engineer level) experience as application engineer or FAE in switcher, gate drive, charger, or similar power management field
● Applications and system level knowledge of Gate drive, Buck, Boost, motor drive, and other power management systems
● Experience with power PCB design and passive component selection
● Ability to mentor technical skills for junior engineers
● Ability to travel within Japan (occasionally), and internationally (once a year max.)
● Confident in using English for business (written and verbal) on a daily basis.
The following experience can also be utilized in this position:
● Customer facing experience
● Experience or knowledge in Python scripting or similar

Our Senior Application Manager from our Power Division is seeking to hire an experienced Application Engineer to join their 7 staff team in the Toyosu HQ, Tokyo.
