Description: Department: Avionics Integration Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Integration Technician to join our dynamic team of experts. Your role will involve fabricating, inspecting, and testing avionics assembly’s integral to our various spaceflight systems. As the Technician - Integration Engineering III, your contributions will be critical to ensuring safe, consistent, and groundbreaking advancements in human spaceflight. Key Responsibilities: Expertly perform installations of avionic components and systems, ensuring operational reliability and adherence to design specifications. Take initiative in the transition from development to production, supervising qualification timelines and first article assemblies. Conduct detailed installations, including intricate cable harness configurations, ensuring all avionic installations meet safety and quality standards. Inspect, test, and verify avionics assemblies against stringent technical models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Troubleshoot avionic system issues, carrying out necessary modifications, reworks, repairs, or maintenance to resolve malfunctions. Collaborate with vehicle and launch operations teams to perform in-field harness installations, adapting to dynamic launch conditions and requirements. Ensure the optimal function of avionics systems by conducting thorough inspections, cleanings, measurements, and testing activities. Spearhead continuous improvement efforts in avionic installation processes, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency. Maintain a collaborative team environment, effectively balancing multiple priorities and adapting to rapidly evolving project needs. Adhere to strict Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety within all workspaces. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; further technical training or certification preferred. A minimum of 5-10 years in a manufacturing role in aerospace or similar industry, with a focus on avionics or harness fabrication. Well-versed in harsh environment cable harness assembly procedures. Proficient with continuous improvement methodologies such as LEAN, 5S, and Six Sigma. Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office suite. Desired Skills: Experience with avionics manufacturing and operation of related test equipment. Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739, J-STD-001, and ANSI/ESD S20.20. Proficient in using measurement tools and understanding basic math concepts. Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements: Capable of climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Skill/Experience/Education Mandatory Skills Proficiency in the installation of avionics components and systems High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 5-10 years in direct avionics integration or aerospace manufacturing roles Extensive experience in cable harness assembly and installation for aerospace (signal cables, RF cables, fiber optic cables, high data rate cables) Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, such as engineering drawings and specifications. Familiarity with electrical safety and ESD control standards Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and remedy avionics malfunctions. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment with rapidly changing priorities. Proficient with basic computer applications, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and written Authorized to work in the United States (U.S. citizenship or permanent residency) Desired Skills: Technical certifications or advanced training in avionics, electrical systems, or a related technical field Experience with standard aerospace industry workmanship and quality specifications (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-DTL-22520, NASA-STD-8739) Knowledge of advanced test equipment for avionics systems, such as Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Demonstrated skill in performing Hi-Pot, continuity, and other avionics-related tests. Manual dexterity to handle precision tools for avionics installation and tests. Basic math skills for reading, interpreting, and using various measurement tools. Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and familiarity with Six Sigma principles for process improvement
