The opportunity

  • Coordinate engagement with youth, Youth Sounding Board’ members, youth associations ensuring young people’s voices are considerate, based on periodically communication and consultations with them and that meaningful spaces for engagement with key stakeholders are provided in line with the project implementation plan

  • In coordination with partner organization and project team design and implement relevant approaches to youth engagement work

  • Coordinate the YSB’ communications including online presence and group communications and stakeholders networking

  • Take on child and youth safeguarding responsibilities for YSB’s work and ensure the safeguarding policy are understood and followed by project, staff, partner organization, youth associations and any other key stakeholders involved.

  • Lead regular in presence or virtually meetings with youth, youth associations and YSB members to monitor progress of their actions and initiatives.

  • Lead the outreach plan reaching out to various formal and informal networks

  • Organize training for young people in campaigns and communication skills including media work, public speaking etc. with support of the Communication & Advocacy Specialist.

  • Communicate and facilitate in a participatory way with young people and across diverse cultural backgrounds

    About You

  • Educational background or equivalent experience in development, human rights, communications, and youth work.

  • At least 3 years relevant experience in youth engagement and empowerment initiatives in Mozambican context

  • Demonstrated experience in working directly with young people in a participatory way and managing youth networks or youth groups/panels.

  • Experience in organizing events and campaigns with and for young people

  • Knowledge and skills in development and implementing communications and advocacy campaigns engaging youth

  • A team player who is able to work collaboratively and with people of diverse backgrounds

  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy

  • Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese. English skills – advantage

    Grade: 13 (Pay range 1.085.796,00 MT a 1.221.518,00 MT annual gross) Plan reserves the right to pay according to internal procedures
