Requirements:
Associate degree in a science or technology program (preferably in the identified discipline) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Navy nuclear power plant experience may also be considered.
Some industrial experience in Mechanical discipline is desirable.
Summary: Individuals will complete a comprehensive three (3) year apprentice program encompassing all areas of plant maintenance leading to a fully qualified journeyman Mechanic position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Attend and successfully complete classes in all phases of apprentice/training program.
Complete OJT/hands-on training from a qualified instructor or qualified member of maintenance personnel.
Assist journeyman mechanics in the testing, troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment.
Identify hold points, additional problems and proper replacement parts as needed during performance of work activities.
Perform other assigned duties as directed by management, supervision, and journeymen.
Work Hours: During much of the training, individuals will work a 4 day/10-hour work schedule (Monday – Thursday); however, alternate work schedules including shift work will be required to support outages and other plant needs.
Location: STPNOC is located on a 12,200-acre site approximately twenty (20) miles southwest of Bay City, Texas.
Salary: The starting pay is $36.99 per hour . After the successful completion of each 6-month training period, the wage rate increases as shown below:
