We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Legal Counsel to join the company in Australia. In collaboration with the Head of Farmland, Australia, the Head of Legal for Europe/APAC/Africa and the Head of APAC, this role provides support, guidance and general in-house legal advice to the Australian investment entities on local matters. Working across an international platform as well as a close-knit regional team, the right individual will require a pragmatic approach with exposure to a diverse and broad range of responsibilities.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
Provide high quality, timely and legal focused advice across a broad range of issues;
Anticipate, manage and respond to legal exposure and risk;
Engage and maintain relationships with external counsel and regulatory bodies;
Manage required applications and approvals with Federal, State and local regulatory bodies;
Manage all legal documentation, due diligence, property matters and licensing requirements;
Contribute to Corporate Governance;
Encourage the development of a culture of compliance with regulatory obligations, industry standards and internal policy;
Support legal aspects in developing ESG reporting and local support on legal matters related to sustainability in Australia

Bringing initiative and energy to the role you will have a strong worth ethic, excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail. You will have the ability to manage a number of ongoing matters, ensuring prompt advice is provided and be flexible and adaptive to changing business needs. You will have a legal qualification, including a current Australian practicing certificate (unsupervised), knowledge of the Australian agricultural industry and experience in property, water and agribusiness transactions.
