Gogebic Medical Care Facility Registered Nurse/Head Nurse in Wakefield, Michigan

This is a full time, daytime shift position for the qualified candidate.

In order to fulfill the job functions listed below an individual must meet the following minimum qualifications.

Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing.

Possess current RN license.

Minimum of one- year experience in health care field and in supervision of others (Preferred).

Comply with all Facility policies and procedures.

Comply with all policies and procedures as may be established by your Director.

Comply with all shift standards, duties and responsibilities.

Comply with all safety, universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.

Ensure resident safety.

Present a friendly, calm, cooperative, positive manner.

Maintain RN licensure in the State of Michigan.

Fit tested for N95 mask unless failed evaluation or test.

Reports to the Director of Nursing.

On occasion may need to lift up to 40 pounds.

Prompt and regular attendance.

Work closely with physicians to ensure quality resident care, appropriate medical intervention and to evaluate   

    the effectiveness of medical and nursing care.

Supervise overall resident care; ensure care is being carried out as directed and ordered.

Coordinate 24-hour nursing care, incorporating proper delegation to other nurses.

Ensure nursing and Facility policies and procedures are followed.

Give and receive report to and from other shifts.

Make recommendations on resident's level of care and changes in resident care. Alert resident, physician and

    family of changes in resident as appropriate.

Develop and implement the resident/family teaching plan.

Assess resident's health care status, provide direct resident care and implement changes as appropriate.

Initiate, update, and identify problems for care plan; implement and evaluate outcome.

Re-evaluate and coordinate the formal review of the resident care plan by means of an interdisciplinary Team Conference. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents.

Ensure information on residents are communicated, recorded, and is accessible for authorized use.

Oversight of the Restorative Nursing program.

Responsible for rehabilitation charting; ensure all charting is current on each resident.

Complete documentation as requested for reports, studies, infection control, accidents, injuries, and any other

    documentation as appropriate.

Perform venipuncture in the absence of the lab technician. Initiate IV's.

Collect urine and sputum specimens and perform other lab tests as ordered.

Perform rounds of nursing unit to ensure compliance with acceptable policies, procedures, and standards.

Recommend to the Director of Nursing equipment and supply needs, equipment and supply procedure revisions

    or reference materials needed.

Coordinate unit meetings at least monthly and floor in-services as appropriate.

Submit minutes of meetings and sign in sheets to the Director of Nursing Office.

Complete appropriate forms and chart in Nurse's Notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects

    the care provided as well as the resident's response.

Sign all entries. Evaluate resident and employee emergencies, incidents and accidents; intervene as appropriate

    and complete appropriate documentation.

Develop work assignments for nurse's aides; delegate fairly among nurse aides.

Ensure nursing personnel are following their respective job description and initiate or recommend written

    commendation or discipline as appropriate. Replace nursing department call-ins in the absence of the Scheduling Clerk.
