KBR CIWS Engineering Technician in Wallops Island, Virginia

Title:

CIWS Engineering Technician

KBR is seeking a CIWS (Phalanx) Engineering Technician to join our team in Wallops Island, VA. In this role, you will assist with o verhauling CIWS in accordance with Formal Work Packages and applicable technical documentation while adhering to technical authority requirements.

This is a full-time on-site position.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand publications, circuit diagrams, and other appropriate documentations. Perform casualty analysis and fault isolation.

  • Plan, schedule, and complete all activities required to meet established goals.

  • Provides input and assists with process improvement procedures.

  • Assembles and installs equipment using hand tools and power tools.

  • Supports other trades as required to include assisting in rigging, disassembly, reassembly, and inspection of mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and components.

  • Attaches moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit.

  • Coordinates the efforts of drafters, technical writers, engineering technicians and personnel as required.

  • Meets all shop requirements for cleaning up tools, parts, workstations and floors from any trash and Hazardous Waste in accordance with SCSC standards.

  • Conducts inspections, test & repair as it pertains to duties.

  • Replaces defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.

  • Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.

  • Inserts shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments.

  • Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.

  • Follows blueprint design specifications and manufacturer's instructions to install motors, compressors, condensing units, piping and other components.

  • Understands and follow standard and specified safety procedures and operating procedures.

  • Uses drawings, prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to locate defective components and performs repair work with published technical directives and equipment specifications which outline specific alignment and calibration procedures.

Basic Qualifications

Clearance: Active/Current Security clearance

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • US Navy C-School NEC Code V02A Completion.

    Experience: 6 years related experience, including

  • FC Navy background preferred Navy/ship/IMA repair experience.

  • Hand on experience in assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance.

  • Experience with authoring instruction materials (AIM).

  • Experience in 3M, SKED, OMNS- NG.

  • Troubleshooting and repair of CIWS Experience troubleshooting and repair of Close in Weapon systems Experience troubleshooting, and repair of wiring, switches, motors and generators associated with machinery.

Highly Desired Experience

  • Experience performing shipboard testing of SLQ-32/NULKA system

  • Possess 301 Craftsman and 307 Quality Assurance 3M maintenance person qualifications or equivalent as required

  • Knowledge of maintenance and overhaul related experience with NULKA Launchers, CWIS, and 25MM Guns ADA

Additional Duties

  • Requires walking, standing, climbing stairs, visual skills, and manual dexterity.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work in noisy conditions/Industrial work environment.

  • Must be able to work on weekends, as needed.

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

    Contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
