FM Senior Accountant in WALTHAM, Massachusetts

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join a global organization. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and be part of the Real Estate Finance team, which supports both corporate and investment assets.

Schedule & Location

This position is an exempt, full-time office-based position working 5 days each week Monday-Friday in Waltham, MA. This position may be eligible for one remote day per week on either Tuesday or Friday, based on business needs. Travel may be required twice per year to corporate headquarters in Johnston, Rhode Island for onsite meetings or training.

  • Prepares monthly and year-end reports on GAAP basis.

  • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Supports annual audits, including preparing schedules and gathering documentation.

  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. Presents findings to Accounting management. Communicates with operating or staff personnel to supply or explain data, secure information, or offer additional support. May provide advice on accounting-related issues, using proven and documented principles to support recommendations.

  • Supports system improvement initiatives, including streamlining and automating processes, and enhancing internal controls.

  • Participates in special projects to provide moderately complex accounting information and support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or any other business related degree in combination with strong work experience

Highly Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree in Accounting/Finance

Required Work Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in general accounting/financial reporting experience. Public accounting experience preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of general accounting principles and practices. Exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) highly desired.

  • Proficiency with financial systems and standard software applications (PeopleSoft; Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word)

  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment

  • Proven organizational skills with ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

The annual salary for this position is $78,500 to $112,800 and will be determined based on individual qualifications.
