Ultium Cells Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in Warren, Ohio

Ultium Cells Overview:

Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest battery cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion. It will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

Position Description:

Own the performance of the maintenance area in safety, quality, equipment care, efficiency, innovation, capability and productivity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing a medium sized group of employees in a skilled area of work.

  • Ensure that machines are being fixed as quickly as possible to keep production running.

  • Responsible for assisting in the diagnosis of equipment malfunctions.

  • Supervise construction and maintenance projects.

  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, materials and equipment.

  • Performs responsibilities of conducting corrective and preventive maintenance of production equipment and their controls to ensure operation of machinery.

  • Communicates directly with the production department to coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshooting work in production areas.

  • Prepares and manages periodic preventive maintenance schedule.

  • Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment following all safety requirements.

  • Prepares and maintains maintenance related documents; daily report and check sheet.

  • Other equipment maintenance and repair tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Industrial Maintenance Journeyman’s certificate or equivalent preferred

  • Understanding of Production and Processing equipment

  • 0 to 3 Years Industrial Maintenance Experience preferred

  • Direct, coordinate, lead and mentor the activities of team members.

  • Plan, establish and assign work schedules, assignments, and work orders to ensure department goals are met.

  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facility equipment. Facilitate team member development and growth by reviewing and managing performance through feedback and coaching as well as documentation.

  • Enforce safety and other applicable rules and regulations. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

  • Document and follow up on SOP’s.

  • Maintain related records, logs, and paperwork.

  • Ensuring all team members are utilizing time effectively.

  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

  • Observe work and monitor completion of tasks and work orders.

  • Confer with management, peers and others to resolve team member’s problems, complaints, or grievances.

  • Interpret and apply company policies and procedures, specifications, blueprints, and job orders for team members.

  • Coordinate Work Orders, Production, Vendors & Contractors.

  • A general academic education and the ability to understand moderately complex instructions, schedules, reports, equipment, etc. Lead and foster a culture that values innovation, personal ownership and overall Ultium Cells values, through an outcome based approach without compromising safety.
