Work closely with Journal Project Manager and Deputy Director of Publications to ensure supplement issues manuscripts are produced and published on schedule. Monitor the production schedule of special issues, ensuring that all deadlines are met, and that the production workflow remains steady and consistent. Coordinate with Senior Associate Production Editor to ensure publication and printing of special issues. Perform triage, copy editing and proofreading functions; initiates composition; and conducts issue finalization and online issue posting. Assist the Senior Associate Production Editor with production of regular issues of the AJPH, as requested. Manage a group of freelancer copy editors and proofreaders to ensure that articles are being edited and composed in a timely process. Review copy edited manuscripts, tables, and figures, checking grammar, style, and consistency. Prepare figures and edited manuscripts for composition. Review proofread PDFs, checking grammar, style, and consistency throughout. Reviews notebooks for correctness and incorporate any outstanding changes into the notebook file. Liaise with the Director of Publications to place book and paid ads in the main file and route the main file throughout the entire team. The position will supervise the freelance copy editors and proofreaders. Perform other duties as assigned.
