American Institutes for Research Researcher - Monitoring & Compliance in Washington, District Of Columbia

Overview

AIR is seeking a full-time Researcher with a strong background in Medicare and Medicaid policyto join AIR’sHealth Division (https://www.air.org/our-work/health) . The Researcher will support projects ranging from technical assistance and implementation support to evaluation and analytical support for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), states, and foundations.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of ourU.S. office locations. (https://www.air.org/locations#headquarters) This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Serve as Task Lead; manage tasks, including associated teams and budgets (in collaboration with a Project Manager)

  • Interpret policy and regulation to develop monitoring measures and audit protocols

  • Coordinate with programmer staff to implement claims-based and other measures

  • Work with subject matter experts to develop audit protocols

  • Interpret quantitative measure outputs in light of policy context and regulatory requirements

  • Oversee junior staff in environmental scans, document reviews and other monitoring and audit activities

  • Work with other contractors and CMS staff to obtain necessary data and investigate any outlier results

  • Lead reporting of methods and results in quarterly reports, or at other cadences as required, including helping to design content for dashboards

  • Work with Project Director to prepare abstracts for research conferences

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in health administration, MPP, MBA or MPA (with health-related focus/concentrations) with 4+ years of experience in a similar contracted research/consulting firm, Federal or State-level government, or foundation that conducts policy and health services research, or PhD in public policy, public administration, public health, or discipline

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to lead a small team and collaborate with other teams within the project and across other contractors

  • Comfortable working in a virtual/dispersed work environment.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and work independently

  • Strong presentation, professional development delivery, and facilitation skills

Disclosures:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $95,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
