Temporary promotion will be for a period not-to-exceed 1 yr. This Temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition. Responsibilities Serves as the principal administrative support for the Assistant Director. Provides administrative support to the AD’s deputies and immediate staff as required. Responds to inquiries and administrative problems brought to the AD by members of the staff. Notifies the appropriate staff officials of the need for information or recommendations. Screens all calls and visitors. Receives and reviews all correspondence for the AD. Prepares various reports for the AD and prepares correspondence for the AD’s signature. Arranges conferences and meetings for the AD, helps create agendas and needed documentation, provides record minutes of meetings. Handles all travel arrangements for the AD. Establishes and maintains the AD’s electronic correspondence. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Selective Placement Factors: This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified: Minimum typing proficiency of 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is defined as providing organizational support in an executive level office environment; reviewing, editing, analyzing, and tracking incoming and outgoing correspondence; researching, gathering, and organizing background materials for use in reports and meetings; arranging meetings; writing reports and final documents for signature; serving as lead timekeeper; experience providing training to other clerical support staff throughout the organization; provide discretion and sensitivity for the Directorate (or equivalent) affairs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. There are no qualification requirements for a detail assignment. However, employees must meet any positive education/licensure requirements in order to be detailed to positions with these requirements. Detail assignments do not include additional compensation, and the selectee will not earn time-in-grade at the higher grade level.
