Naval Education and Training Command MECHANICAL ENGINEER in Washington Navy Yard, District Of Columbia

Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies in the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP) with Naval Sea Systems Command. Responsibilities You will review Engineering work of minor complexity under supervision of a senior engineer. You will study engineering texts, periodicals, manufacturer's publications and other technical material to obtain information on materials, equipment and pertinent data. You will prepare layout and detail drawings on relatively routine projects. You will perform work with a larger more complex project pertaining to the design of mechanical systems for naval ships, ship systems and combat systems Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the basic education requirements, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: FOR GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing engineering test data; 2) Writing technical engineering reports 3) Performing engineering calculations; 4) Analyzing technical information for accuracy; and 5) formulating test plans to ensure scientific accuracy. OR 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement, that is directly related to the position. FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting cost estimates and feasibility studies; 2) Reviewing design proposals; and 3) Reviewing reports of failures and recommending remedial action. OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree, that is directly related to the position.
