Position Purpose:

Performs a variety of sleep study testing and related procedures. Prepares test results for physician interpretation. Participates in education and training of staff and serves as a resource person. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

Performs sleep laboratory tests and related procedures.

Provides patient education.

Communicates relevant clinical information to staff and physician(s).

Scores sleep studies accurately.

Schedules patients for testing.

Places accumulated charges into computer system.

Participates in education and training of staff and serves as a resource person.

Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:

12-18 Yrs: Adolescents

18-65 Yrs: Adults

65+ Yrs: Geriatrics

Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Full Time 40 hours per week

7:30 pm to 6 am

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Certificate of graduation from an accredited allied health program or Polysomnography technology program. Iowa license in current field. CRT or RRT preferred. Registered Iowa Polysomnographic Technologist. BLS. Mandatory Reporter. Valid IA driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Minimum of one-year acute care experience preferred. Intermediate language, intermediate math, intermediate reasoning ability. Personal computer and database software. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence. Ability to perform unscheduled procedures.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment with variable temperatures and normal office noise level. Physical demands of job are medium with infrequent lifting, pushing and pulling of up to 50 lbs.; mostly sitting with moderate twisting and wrist deviation, frequent pinching, hand wrist repetitions, requires fine motor skills and moderate both handedness. Exposure hazardous material with the use of oxygen under pressure, body fluid pathogen hazard to eye, hand, torso and respiratory. Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
