Henry Ford Health System Physician Assistant Nurse Practitioner General Surgery Contingent Midnights West Bloomfield in West Bloomfield, Michigan
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Surgical PA will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
The Surgical PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first-line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care.
Takes patient history, performs physical examination, orders, and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, and institutes appropriate treatment programs. Works in collaboration with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other medical care team members to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
Specific procedures are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
First or second assist in surgical cases.
4-12 hour shifts for inpatient night coverage of surgery inpatients.
Responsible for inpatient calls on multiple surgical subspecialties and surgical consultations for ER and hospitalized patients.
OR time: possible for emergent cases
Weekend/holiday rotation required: yes
Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. -OR- Requires a bachelor's degree; completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program; and Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
2 Years of surgery APP experience
ACLS/BLS required
ATLS certification required within 6 months of hire
