NSM is approved as an independent school by the Vermont State Board of Education to provide general and special education services to students, ages 5-22 in grades K-12 in the disability categories of Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Other Health Impairment, Emotional Disturbance, Speech or Language Impairment, Developmental Delay, Multiple Disabilities, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Additionally, NSM operates a program for adult alumni with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Position: NSM is currently seeking a teacher at our Glover, Vermont location that is responsible for ensuring high quality and effective instruction for students that correlate with the appropriate Vermont proficiencies. Based on the core subjects, they develop, plan, and implement curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs for student audiences within their areas of expertise. However, the General Educator also advises, tests, and teaches students in a variety of academic subjects, including outside of their area of expertise. The General Educators primary responsibilities are: student learning, supervision of Student Supervisor staff who are providing special education instruction/assistance, team collaboration, and ability to assist BCBA with Behavior Plans for students.

Qualifications: Working toward, or have received, Bachelors or higher degree, including training and experience in the areas of educational instruction. Experience with students receiving Special Education services preferred. Preference for Vermont teaching certification in a general education field or licensed educator in the state of Vermont.

Other requirements for this position include:

  • Maintain an effective, creative and success-oriented learning environment that meets the educational needs of students.
  • Create engaging learning opportunities that are consistent with students goals and are aligned with the programs mission and vision, and Vermont proficiency standards.
  • Have working knowledge of the evaluation process, IEP process, write student goals, special education assessments and paperwork that is required for documentation purposes.
  • Experience with staff supervision.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures with the NSM handbook and the Student and Family handbook.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, organizer, and be able to work both independently and part of a team.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a part-time position, with an annual salary of \$30,000 to \$35,000. NSM offers a 401k retirement plan with employer match, prorated PTO for scheduled days worked, and employee assistance program.NSM also encourages and supports exceptional opportunities for training and professional development.
