The McAuley is West Hartford’s only Life Plan Community, promoting and fostering an independent lifestyle within a life care setting. Both Saint Mary Home and The McAuley offer a wide variety of cultural, educational, social and spiritual programs and activities to capture diverse interests and needs.

Performs a variety of duties in order to provide a clean and safety environment to all residents, v isitors, and staff following all policies, procedures , and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the mission of The McAuley and the core values of Mercy Community Health in daily work activities. Prepare station thoroughly before residents arrive. Acknowledge table after Hostess presents menu, pour water, present breadbasket with butter and explain daily menu. Take orders of entire table which includes: appetizer or soup, salad and entree. Explain any specials.

Serve courses on oval trays which should be carried at shoulder level or higher. Cocktail trays will be used for carrying beverage and small items. Offer to replenish bread basket and beverages.

Check back to be sure everything is to the residents liking and continue to do so during entire meals. Clear the entree once all the diners have stopped eating. Offer dessert presentation, serve dessert and offer coffee. Bus and re-set table. All tables are to be bussed onto trays which are placed on tray jacks.

All soiled items removed, new tablecloth placed correctly, salt, peppershakers, etc. thoroughly wiped. Gather all necessary items for proper table set-up from station and set properly. Responsible for opening and closing side work as assigned. When residents leave, check table and chairs for cleanliness and then the chairs are returned to their proper place.

Completes all catering and special functions set-ups. Assist other servers as necessary or required. Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Follows all safety, security, infection control (including Category I Universal Precautions) and hazardous materials policies and procedures; performs all tasks to assure resident and personal safety and the protection ofco-workers and (facility) property.
