Job Title: Plumber Reports to: Assist. Dir. Of MandO Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Dept./School: Maintenance

Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, maintain and manage the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fitting and plumbing fixtures district wide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or Equivalent Valid Texas driver's license Texas journeyman plumber license with no restrictions Five years of related experience in plumbing field Preferred Qualifications: Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester License from TCEQ Water Supply Protection Specialist Endorsement from TSBPE Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance and installation techniques Knowledge of plumbing codes Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, Texas Boiler Inspection Law and National Sanitation Foundations Standards Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written reference material Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to use hand and power tools Basic computer skills Ability to communicate and interact with staff and students in a professional manner.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: Maintenance and Repair Assemble, install, maintain and pressure test all pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc. Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption. Receive and complete work orders. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates. Manage and maintain accurate work order records on material and labor used. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure accurate communication and resolution. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures. Continue to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for district plumbing systems. Respond to emergency calls as needed.

Safety Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Other Other duties as assigned. May required to be on call for after hours issues. Maintain Confidentiality. Work irregular hours, respond to after-hours emergency calls and serve on call per scheduled rotation as needed.

Equipment Used: Radio, computer, hand and power tools; pipe bender; propane torch; welding equipment; sewer rooter; heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher, backhoe and other job related tools or equipment. Light truck or van. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside, around sewage, chemicals and fumes. May be required to work in extreme weather conditions. Frequent district wide travel.
