Kimley-Horn Mechanical Forensic Engineer in West Palm Beach, Florida

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Mechanical Forensic Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join the West Palm Beach, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections for vehicle accidents, product defect and premises liability cases for various types of clients that includesvisiting and surveying crash sites, evaluating work zones, conducting vehicle/product/property inspections, documenting evidence, and interpreting damage patterns.

  • Use of the state-of-the-art technology to collect data and evidence from the field inspections.

  • Assist analyzing in motor vehicle accident reconstructions, conducting background analyses, case summaries and reports, and documenting incident scenarios.

  • Assist in interpreting field data for vehicular accident reconstruction, mechanical failure, and premises analysis.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports (both internally and for clients), technical summaries, presentations, and visuals / graphics.

  • Focused research of literature, industry standards, government regulations, specifications, testing etc., that pertain to a specific product or safety issue.

  • Assist project engineers preparing for courtroom testimony.

  • Perform analyses of occupant kinematics analysis and injuries sustained during vehicle accidents. MADYMO experience a plus. (optional/preferred)

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related experience in Mechanical Forensics -Biomechanical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.

  • Possess hands-on mechanical aptitude, experience in and around automobiles, and a high degree of creative problem-solving ability.

  • Willing and able to travel for inspections and testing

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects

  • Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability

  • Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline team
