West Point Veneer Human Resource and Administration Generalist in West Point, Virginia

[West Point Veneer is searching for a qualified, bilingual (English and Spanish) resourceful human resource and administration generalist to support our company. The human resource and administration generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, and will help with important functions such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits.   • Administration: general office support duties including purchasing supplies, answering phones, addressing questions and inquiries, data entry of company data
  • Support company compliance in regards to safety and permitting

    • Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations
    • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
    • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary

[Responsibilities]{pro="" sans="" source=""}

  • Accurate data entry to keep track of logs received and ensure proper data entry into log tracking system
  • Develop and enforce safety procedures specific to growing veneer manufacturing operation
  • Ensure company compliance with permits (air, water, etc.) and maintain updated knowledge of legal and regulatory environments
  • Administrative office duties including purchasing of supplies, answering telephones, direct calls, taking messages, communicating with customers and employees to answer questions, explain information, and address questions or concerns
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Assist in hiring employees and process hiring-related paperwork.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  • Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.[AC1]
