Amazon Firmware Engineer, Amazon Robotics (AR) in Westborough, Massachusetts
Description
Introduction
We are building a new, foundational automation system which will transform warehouse operations by combining multiple novel workcells. We are seeking experienced Firmware Engineers to design and develop software for controlling robotics systems. Ideal candidate will be experienced in robotic path planning, motion control and computer vision. They are passionate about software development and has a track record of designing and implementing new products and features using cloud technologies ( preferably AWS) and software deployed at the edge. They have seen their solutions deployed at scale in live environments. They are a hands-on expert, with a deep and broad understanding of software tools and complex algorithm development..
Key job responsibilities
Work with cross-functional teams—including hardware engineers, software developers, and operations personnel—to develop integrated solutions and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
Integrate, troubleshoot the robotic system with multiple other solutions and help build an optimal planner and orchestration for the movement of the system.
Build simulation engines, hardware mocks, integration tests as appropriate to be able to test solutions before they are deployed in production.
Integrate and build software around vision systems that help with localizing.
Work alongside hardware extensively to identify and fix failure modes.
15-20% travel expected to support onsite system testing

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
1+ years building solutions in the cloud technlogies like AWS, GCP, Azure
Expert level knowledge of at least one modern object oriented language such as Java (. preferred ), C++, or C#
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Experience developing on an embedded Linux system* Master's degree in Engineering or related field
Experience working on software which controls robots or other hardware like telecom and medical devices
Experience working on vision systems
