Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for an AS&T Project Coordinator who will beresponsible for assisting AS&T Senior Scientists, Project Manager (PM), and the Program Manager to plan, budget, schedule, and execute discrete work packages. Work packages could include but not be limited to routine calibration and maintenance activities, planning and execution of pilot studies, drilling activities, sensor deployments and the collection and QC of the data, sampling of soils, vegetation and water, lab work including soil preparation and analysis, internship activities involving fieldwork, organizing data collection efforts, and planning and executing other small and large-scale field operations. The Project Coordinator may also assist the Project Manager and Program Manager in developing project/program budget and schedules, and support reporting on project performance through reports, presentations, and meetings with contract and client personnel.

Hiring Range: $ 88,000.00 – $94,000.00 per year.(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

This position is required to travel 10% to 35% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute projects, coordinate as necessary with various LMS entities including but not limited to Information Technology/Information Management, Environmental Compliance, Business Services, Technical Services and Site Operations.

  • Assists with project planning including but not limited to executing project plans and procedures and coordinating with support groups.

  • Under general supervision, organize and implement field activities, oversee and/or conduct field activities.

  • Assists with schedule, budget, status reporting, and project closeout activities.

  • Conducts IWCP project and process implementation for DOE.

  • Supports with developing and managing project cost and scheduling using EVM techniques including changes in scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Accountable for drafting technical reports, letters, and workplans as deliverables.

  • Mentor junior staff and interns.

  • Support programmatic initiatives including drafting project proposals and workplans, communicating project status with internal and external stakeholders, and provide support with routine reporting and update requirements.

  • Assist with procurement and contracting actions including but not limited to material/subcontract procurement, serving as technical monitor for Purchase Orders, and managing changes to subcontracts scope/schedule/budget.

  • Work with Senior Scientist in preparing reports and articles for publication, and presenting findings at local, national, and/or international meetings.

  • Work with Senior Scientist to adapt and modify research concepts and approaches as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Soil Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field.

  • 5 years of relevant experience

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Understand Procurement and Contracts, Safety and Health, Environmental Compliance and Quality/Performance Assurance protocols.

  • Basic understanding of project workflow that is required to assist in the development of work plans, reports, compiling data, and delivering a final product.

  • Develop familiarity with all aspects of the work control and project planning including Integrated Work Control, Readiness Review, and project closeout processes.

  • Familiarity with various Microsoft Office products (word, excel, Teams, etc.).

  • Ability to implement engineering and/or scientific research principles, practices, and protocols.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.

  • Knowledge of DOE procedures, requirements, and work control processes to facilitate field activities.

  • Develop and maintain client relations.

Essential Physical Requirements

Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
