We are currently looking for a Payroll Manager for our Westport, CT office.The Payroll Manager role is responsible for compiling, recording and processing employee time and payroll data for 900-plus employees for bi-weekly payroll period. In addition, the Payroll Manger will process appropriate accounting entries for domestic payroll to the general ledger and reconcile to the general ledger.
Directs the payroll processes, ensuring that the time and attendance system and any manual time records and manual adjustments (received from the business) have been accurately interfaced/entered into payroll.
Approves and executes all payroll adjustments, required tax adjustments, and/or amendments. Approves all manual payroll check requests to ensure proper controls are followed.
Prepares and maintains payroll procedural documentation-ensuring that updates are made as process, law, or other changes occur.
Prepares monthly reconciliation of payroll deductions to general ledger accounts. Prepares quarterly reconciliation of 941 to GL salary accounts. Responsible for timely payroll file transmission to the third parties for check printing and tax filing (each payroll cycle/quarterly).
Responsible for year-end W2 reconciliation and distribution and any W2-C preparation.
Responsible for implementation and updates to payroll systems, including testing, verification, and training.
Works collaboratively with all functions, and drives a “can do,” positive employee experience both within the Payroll team and across the organization by exhibiting our values.
Responsible for managing changes to 401(k), Roth, HSA, FSA, and other employee benefits.
Responsible for managing our employee-related insurance policies.
Maintain employee roster and headcount.
Be the Subject Matter Expert for Payroll inquiries.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification in Payroll Management.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance is desirable.
5+ years of payroll experience. Knowledge of Federal and State wage and hour laws.
Accustomed to overseeing the payroll for employees located in multiple states.
Understanding of general accounting principles, accounts payable/receivable practices general ledger “debits” and “credits,” and accounting terms.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently and independently, self-starter, energetic.
Ability to demonstrate good common sense and sound judgment.
Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction.
Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours; possibly work weekends or evenings.
Apply knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the relevant industry.
