Description

The Lead Trainer coordinates all aspects of the Technical Assistance/Training services, including training to the clients and staff of Community-Based Organizations, including AIDS service organizations, social service organizations, and community health care facilities. The Lead Trainer also acts as the training curriculum developer and conducts all functions necessary to produce high quality training materials. Emphasis will be given to the myriad psychosocial issues primarily impacting older adults Aging with HIV, and community members who serve older adults aging with HIV. The lead Trainer will also support other staff in the development of training materials, particularly presentations to ensure accuracy with content and technical matters. This position is also responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Director in operating the Technical Assistance programs.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job:

  • Present group education workshops and training for community-based clients and staff at CBO offices/facilities according to our program’s established curriculum.

  • Review, revise and prepare training program materials and evaluations for each program, including assisting in conducting needs assessment based on the purpose of each program and the needs of the priority populations.

  • Create written materials to cover educational topics for which no existing materials can be obtained.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with community-based organizations.

  • Provide One-on-One treatment education and counseling on-site, via phone, and at other reasonable locations to meet client needs.

  • Assist in producing community education forums throughout New York City.

  • Perform data collection, entry and analysis of technical assistance and education program activities for reporting and evaluation.

  • Assist in the timely completion of interim reports, annual reports, and other reports required by partners.

  • Keep up to date on HIV Care/treatment developments and policy issues through continuing education.

  • Conduct training, as needed, of fellow staff, and function as senior trainer/curriculum writer on TA projects.

  • Administer program replication by consulting with relevant staff and develop and implement all mechanisms necessary to effect replication of our programs.

Other Responsibilities

The following duties are to be performed as assigned by the supervisor:

  • Form and maintain close working relationships with HIV Care networks and relevant local, national, and international organizations to grow and market ACRIA’s technical assistance and other services.

  • Complete funder required narrative and data-based reports on HLA Trainings

  • Monitor training activities and provide quality assurance and control, including the development and implementation of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program for HLA training.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Certification

  • A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twelve semester credits in health education, or in health, social or biological sciences. Master’s degree preferred.

Special Skills and Knowledge

In addition to the above-listed job responsibilities and educational requirements, the ideal candidate for this position possesses most or all the following:

  • At least four years’ experience developing and providing HIV-related treatment/health education and information training and technical assistance, case management and/or other related health and human services work.

  • Experience working with LGBT communities.

  • Experience working with older adults (50+) living with or at risk for HIV.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

  • Well-developed presentation, group facilitation, training, and curriculum writing skills.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
