Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Supervisor, the Chemical Stripping Operator is responsible for mechanically and chemically removing metal depositions from and applying surface texture to various metal parts.Responsibilities:Mechanically and chemically remove metals from PVD shield components.Calculate and measure correct chemical amounts to maintain specified ratios.Mix many different chemical solutions per operating procedures. Operate chemical process tanks, valves, filters, and pumps.After removal of precious metals from PVD shield components, apply final surface texture, this includes the operation of the sandblaster, and some measurement instruments.Maintain and operate precipitation, filtering, testing, and sampling processes; know the types of precious metals that will be dissolved in each solution and the appropriate method of reclaim, per operating proceduresPre-treat metal flakes and filters for refining.Maintain and operate wastewater treatment systems and chemical neutralization processes.Follow strict operating and safety procedures, fill in required logs and documents, and maintain traceability of all parts and removed metals.Wear necessary personal protective equipment for long periods of time - including full chemical resistant suit, full-face respirator, chemical resistant boots, apron, and arm-length glovesAssist engineering and R&D chemists with process improvement projects and production trials of new chemical stripping processes, including associated data collection, reviews, and documentation.Unload and receive chemical supply shipments; prepare and ship hazardous waste.Serve on the Emergency Response Team.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent. Chemical training or experience required.Knowledge of safe chemical handling and storage preferred.Respirator use requiredERT membership required.
Minimum Salary: 23.00 Maximum Salary: 27.00 Salary Unit: Hourly
