Title: Commercial Director – Field Sales AU

Purpose

This is a critical Commercial role within the business. Primarily the position function is to manage the successful implementation of product, promotional and category plans developed by the Marketing team and Business Managers in the market. The role will lead all the regional field team, Bunnings team and the enterprise solutions team. The group managed is responsible for the development of strong commercial relationships at store level and project sites. The role is to ensure that each team successfully implement all programs in addition to looking for other opportunities within the store network for incremental growth. The region is not channel specific and the accountability will span all channels. In addition, the relationship with the other commercial leads is also critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the correct resources are allocated to the programs which can deliver the greatest impact while understanding that they have equal responsibility to all channels.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Sales Managers and Field Sales leads empowering them to thrive in their respective roles.

  • Ensure that the field team has the necessary training, tools and processes to succeed in their territory.

  • Develop yearly plans in line with the Strategic plans

  • Develop Sales and SG&A budgets

  • Manage monthly sales meetings

  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives

  • Effective management of sales team through mechanisms such as the call plan cycle and territory management

  • Support the Sales team in the achievement of the overall business targets at a territory, account and store level as required.

  • Oversee and manage large team of Sales Managers and Field Sales leads

  • Work with marketing department to determine appropriate product offers and new product opportunities

  • Participate in sales forecasts and feasibility studies for new products, in particular be a key internal advocate and driver of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.

  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives

Education and experience

  • Led and managed national teamsT

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field

  • 5-10 years’ experience in a Sales / Marketing environment

  • Sound understanding of People management
