Provide customer account services to families for after care and pre-planning, explore alternatives, and troubleshoot situations. Elevates problems up to the Account Claims Specialist II when unable to resolve. Process funeral insurance claims (Global Atlantic and TruStage) and follow up with third party insurance vendor (American Funeral Financial) to ensure timely payment. Submit claims for Batesville rebates, process payments, research credit balances, submit refund requests, and perform account adjustments in accordance with SOX control. Manage the at-need accounts receivables through effective collection efforts in order to increase recovery and minimize financial losses to the company, while meeting the company financial objectives. Works under the close direction of the Senior Specialist II.
Essential Job Functions: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
File and process funeral insurance claims and assist with third party insurance claims timely.
Submit total casket protection claim for Batesville rebates timely.
Answer incoming calls and meet with customers in office to process payments, payoffs, and update auto draft info, all in accordance with SOX control. Explain account status, generate statements or payment history, and enter A/R adjustments as necessary to close account or to resolve customer service issue.
Respond to daily incoming internal emails for information, including balance quotes for use of interment spaces.
Review and research credit balance report, and submit refund requests in a timely manner.
Process and complete At-Need Contract Adjustment Forms in accordance with SOX control
Process customer requests for cancellations, issue credits as appropriate for at-need trade-ins, while adhering to the cancellation guidelines.
Contact delinquent at-need customers and send letters to satisfy balances or to secure timely payment of their account.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve payment discrepancies and disputes.
Interpret, analyze, recommend, and take action on a wide range of, collection, and customer service related issues.
Send documents to corporate Tax Cash Receipts for filing of IRS form 8300 for cash payments over $10,000
Provide superior service to external and internal customers by courteous, accurate, and prompt service.
Demonstrate high level of confidentiality, common sense, judgment, and sense of urgency, and ability to set priorities.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, rules, and controls.
Adhere to safety rules and regulations, and report unsafe practices to management.
Act on customer complaints to provide satisfactory resolution.
Understand and achieve annual SMART goals.
Participate in training and skill development opportunities to improve competency and customer service.

Experience and Education:
Two to three years accounting experience or similar
Experience in providing superior customer service by phone and in person
Some college level classes preferred, or equivalent

Ability to analyze, understand, and report on accounting data
Ability to reconcile statements
High degree of accuracy
Communicate clearly and accurately with all levels of the Company
Excellent interpersonal relations skills and flexibility
Conflict resolution skills to deal with difficult customers

PC with MS Office software, with some Excel skills
Keyboard accurately at 45 wpm & operate 10-key
One to two years of Credit & Collection experience with emphasis in consumer credit, including experience in skip tracing a plus
Broad knowledge and understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practice & regulations a plus
Bilingual a plus

Work seated and/or standing, where the noise volume is quiet to moderate.
Work under daily deadlines, responding to internal customers, high volume phones, and meeting with walk-in customers.
Maintain high accuracy and document security, while providing superior customer service.
Detail accuracy is extremely important and the ability to cope with constantly changing priorities and interruptions.
Comply with Operations Dress Code Policy.
Physical Requirements
Meet with families in an office, answer heavy phone calls, and respond to heavy company email inquiries. Must be able to make outgoing collection calls; must be able to handle difficult customers, using conflict resolution skills; potential eyestrain from constant viewing of computer monitors; ergonomic requirements must be considered for safety and health. Sit for long periods.

$22.00/hr – $26.00/hr
