Cattle Procurement Internship:
You will be exposed to a number of subject areas that will help you to gain an understanding of how to effectively schedule daily production, maintain a live inventory, and have exposure to purchasing fed cattle from various producers.
As a Cattle Procurement Intern you will become familiar with the workflow of the operations, and to develop knowledge of meat processing production, including food safety and overall production management. You will gain exposure to meat processing production, including process flow, yields, variances, USDA regulations and requirements, accounting, and information technologies.
Your Work:
Livestock scheduling
Special project pertaining to the Cattle Procurement Group
Partner with buyer in purchasing cattle
Various projects as needed
Our Programming:
Internships are paid and are typically 12 weeks in duration.
Day-to-day transportation to and from work is the responsibility of the intern.
Housing assistance and relocation reimbursement are available to interns who qualify.
Interns who demonstrate outstanding performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered an internship, co-op or full-time position for the following year.

Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this position is $18.80 - $26. Compensation decisions are dependent on graduation date and eligibility for full-time employment.

Travel approximately 35% or less
Required Qualifications:
Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa, or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Agriculture, Business, Economics, or related degrees graduating between December 2025 and June 2026
Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June - August 2025)
A desire and willingness to work around and with livestock producers
Candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate to Wichita, KS for an internship opportunity
Demonstrated strong conflict resolutions skills
Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Proven ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures
Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in both English and Spanish
Overall 3.0 GPA or higher based off of a 4.0 scale
Demonstrated negotiation skills
Basic understanding of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Live Cattle Trading
