Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
Hard Skills
Thorough knowledge of machining principles on materials ranging from stainless steel to magnesium
Machining processes, tools, and mathematics
Safe use of shop equipment, processes, and measuring tools
Microsoft Office Basics
Standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds
Measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
Fitting and assembling precision parts into mechanical equipment
Working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
