Aerotek Machinist in Wichita, Kansas

Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We have 2 openings on the 3rd shift (Mon-Fri, 12am-7am) with pay ranging from $23-29/hr based on experience. As a Machinist, you will manufacture quality products in CNC machining centers, change materials and tools as needed, and inspect products using appropriate tools. You will also fill out necessary paperwork to track product cost and movement and use shop orders, setup documents, and customer drawings to ensure production quality and efficiency. This full-time, hourly position requires proficiency in operating all machines and using all measuring tools. You will report directly to the Production Manager.

Hard Skills

  • Reading and interpreting internal and customer engineering drawings

  • Using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages

  • Making adjustments to setups and processes

  • Determining cutting tool needs and replacements

  • Utilizing grinding and cutting tools like air grinders, drill press, manual mill, grinders, saws, and burr tools

  • Knowledge of CNC machining in commercial or aerospace manufacturing

  • Experience with G and M codes

  • 5 Axis Machining on mills

  • Aluminum high-speed machining

  • Performing setups and runs on controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazatrol)

Soft Skills

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment

  • Determining when to stop production due to quality or safety issues

  • Proper documentation for shop loss procedures

  • Clocking in/out accurately using the company MRP system

  • Using lifting equipment or methods to prevent injury

  • Awareness of safety-related MSDS information

  • Following procedures for extinguishing flammable materials

  • Teamwork

  • Participation in safety trainings/meetings

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 18 Week(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Wichita, Kansas.

Work Environment

You will be working on the shop floor, which is air-conditioned, and exposed to water-soluble coolants and loud machinery. The area is climate-controlled, and you will be expected to wear steel-toe boots.
