Position Summary:

This Network Service Technician III position is located in Wichita, KS, and is within the Bureau of Maintenance. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and proper operations of the KSICS Public Safety Radio Communication System equipment statewide as well as providing technical support, diagnosis solutions, provisioning and programming assistance to radio users, vendors, contractors, and Radio technicians operating. The Network Service Technician III is also responsible for maintaining the KSICS Radio System and serving as the Network Administrator for the KSICS Radio System. Travel and overnight lodging when working in various districts will be required.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for Network Administration for the KSICS Radio System Statewide Radio Network which includes the installation, diagnosis, maintenance, provisioning, programming, updates, and proper operations of the KSICS Public Safety Radio Communication System Equipment at the two Zone Core Master sites located at Salina and Wichita and radio system equipment statewide.
  • Supports a wide variety of software applications and system software.
  • Assists with specification analysis to plan for network and budgetary upgrades as needed.
  • Responsible for technical support, diagnosis, software/firmware installations/upgrades, repair and maintenance of the site components when requested and assisting the District Radio technicians of the KSICS Public Safety Radio System and ensuring proper operation.
  • Installs, diagnoses and repairs dispatch console computers, voice processing modules, console site routers, console conventional gateway routers, console site controllers, instant recall recorders, logging recorders, console software installations, console configuration and dispatch control radios used by the KS Highway Patrol for dispatching troopers on the radio system.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, tests and maintains back-up electrical power systems at the Master Zone Core Sites.
