Spirit AeroSystems Operations Engineering Management – Fabrication Production Control in Wichita, Kansas

This role will be responsible for the Capacity Planning support function for the Fabrication division in Wichita, Ks. Roles and responsibilities will include administering production order release scheduling, developing and administering WIP management strategies, understanding and reviewing shop health metrics, developing and applying recovery schedules, working with the shop customers to ensure they are successful. Fabrication receives demand signals from multiple customers, both internal and external, production and aftermarket, commercial and defense, and our role is to ensure the production system is setup to handle and manage the required throughput.

Additional responsibilities include developing and maintaining asset capacity plans, working with Operations, Business Management, and Supply Chain to develop capital plans and risk mitigation activities. Interfacing with various functions for onload and offload, as well as establishing Facilities requirements for Preventative Maintenance and planned down time. Requires the coordination and collaboration with various Supply Chain teams for onload, offload and new business while ensuring asset capacity to successfully execute the statement of work.

Finally, this group facilitates regular working reviews with various levels of the operations leadership to ensure that required levels of throughput are being met. Overall system health is reviewed regularly with focus on throughput, WIP management, and delivery health. This position may be involved with the development of various visibility decks and tools as needed, potentially including, but not limited to recovery plans, rate plans, downtime plans, onload and offload visibility, etc. Role may also include varying amounts of project management oversight.

  • Lead a team of represented employees in Industrial Engineering, Business Analysis, Project Management, etc.

  • Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems – based on these studies, develop, and implement optimized product flow.

  • Interact across all levels of the organization; efficiently and effectively communicate and execute the manufacturing plan and schedule, implement agreed-upon changes; navigate difficult situations and conversations to a productive outcome.

  • Lead team in developing solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

  • Knowledge of IE Tools used in production i.e.: capacity analysis, facility layout, and production improvements.

  • Experience utilizing production metrics to make informed decisions and drive results.

  • Develop, control, and manage existing reporting for metrics, rate readiness, quality, and other cadences for Fabrication senior leadership

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Understanding of a manufacturing production atmosphere.

  • Use problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to develop innovative and expedient solutions to fabrication problems.

  • Ability to manage projects and to lead and participate in cross-functional teams to accomplish engineering initiatives, in a team environment, interact with multiple disciplines and levels of management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, act decisively, and to demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness.

  • Knowledge of business and production metrics structures and reporting

  • Knowledge of standard business software including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of SAP MRP systems

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science Degree in Engineering preferred.

  • Aerospace, mechanical, or industrial engineering degree preferred.

  • Experience with Business Management functions

  • Experience with Demand Management

  • Experience with APICS Supply Chain principles

  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma/Theory of Constraints

  • Knowledge of Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning
