Universal Health Services Sr. Human Resources Generalist in WILDOMAR, California

Responsibilities

Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, California , is a licensed 122-bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission. It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county-designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year, and has an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region’s only Total Joint Center.

Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California , is a 120 bed acute-care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children’s emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family-friendly private suites. Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children’s.

Essential Job Duties

This position is responsible for supporting the Human Resources initiatives, programs, policies and processes. Some of the areas of responsibility will include on-boarding, benefits, employee badging, new hire orientation, file maintenance, leave tracking, relationship-building, and professionally representing the Human Resources function with the two SWHS facilities.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Ensures employee Leaves of Absence are tracked and processed in accordance with facility/company guidelines and regulatory compliance.

  • Provides timely interactions with Employees and Supervisors related to duration of leave.

  • Communicates with Absence Management vendor on a regular and timely basis.

  • Initiates interactive process working with employees and supervisors providing workplace accommodations as necessary.

  • Recruitment and Retention – Analyzes and trends HR metrics in partnership with HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies that improve employee retention.

  • Performs employee rounding and develops positive respectful relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Works closely with supervisors and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.

  • Participates in bi-annual employee engagement survey insuring maximum employee participation of no less than 75%.

  • Participates in employee activities and chairs or participates in committees and task forces.

  • Conducts New Hire Orientation ensuring optimal employee experience and improved engagement during on-boarding process.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely maintenance and tracking of all HRIS data.

  • Oversees unemployment compensation providing timely information to UI vendor and attending hearings as needed.

  • Works with Loss Control, Employee Health, and Work Comp vendor to ensure timely processing of employee claims and optimal outcomes.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to supervisors (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Leads performance evaluation process providing technical support to supervisors and staff.

  • Provides support during benefits enrollment.

  • Supervision – May supervise Human Resources Generalist, Human Resources Assistant, and/or Human Resources Clerk at multiple locations.

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

    Experience/Training/Education

  • Five (5) years of continuing advanced responsibilities in Human Resources service disciplines. Healthcare experience strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational management, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.

  • Experience in California wage and hour strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; 8 years of relevant experience and HR Certification as PHR or AA degree in lieu of bachelor’s degree with 8 years of direct experience.
