Protective Industrial Products Front Line Leader in Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Job Summary

The Front-Line Leader oversees the day-to-day operations of our second shift production team and all departments who will be working on the second shift. They are responsible for managing a team of production employees, ensuring safety standards are met, maintaining quality control, and optimizing productivity.

Job Responsibilities

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assessing and documenting safety incidents including near misses within assigned area.

  • Promote a safe work environment and implement safety initiatives to reduce accidents and injuries.

Operational Excellence:

  • Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing and resources as needed to meet production targets.

  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.

  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks and implement solutions for process improvement.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise a team of front-line employees to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.

  • Monitor employee performance against attendance, safety, productivity standards

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to team members.

  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

    Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure adherence to quality control standards and procedures.

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues in collaboration with quality assurance and engineering teams.

  • Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues.

    Performance Management:

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, efficiency, and quality.

  • Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop action plans to address performance gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

    Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments such as maintenance, engineering, and logistics to ensure smooth production operations.

  • Collaborate with supply chain management to optimize inventory levels and minimize production disruptions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is a plus.

  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, problem-solve, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and manufacturing ERP systems.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Prior experience or training with Continuous Improvement/Operational Excellence (Six Sigma or Lean) is a plus

  • Additional Requirements:

  • A willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production schedules.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.
