Corteva Agriscience Media Relations Manager in Wilmington, Delaware


Corteva Agriscience is currently seeking a Media Relations Manager. The Media Relations Manager serves as an enterprise-level spokesperson, with primary focus on global and U.S. trade media, in addition to top-tier media. Collaborates across businesses, regions and functions to tell the company’s growth story to key stakeholder audiences, including industry and enterprise stakeholders, via top-tier and top-trade media. Manage and cultivate media relationships. Collaborates closely with the digital team to integrate media storytelling in digital and social media environments, further helping to raise the company’s profile with key external stakeholders.

This role can accommodate a flexible work arrangement where you may work multiple days a week from home.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with influential trade media and select top-tier media to effectively tell the Corteva’s growth story to top media stakeholders

  • Oversee Agriculture trade media planning – coordinating with agencies and regional colleagues on select proactive and reactive media inquiries and opportunities

  • Partner closely with colleagues in the businesses, regions and functions to provide media relations counsel to leaders – serving as focal point with media stakeholders and ensuring alignment of media relations activities to the company’s strategic priorities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Agriculture industry media, while also supporting relationship management with top-tier media

  • Manage media background and briefing sessions

  • Provide strategic media relations counsel, as well as support in the preparation of briefing books and other leadership prep materials for speaking engagements

  • Provide media environment analysis as needed and act as a strategic advisor to the Investor Relations, Strategy, M&A and Media Relations Leader for strategic decision-making

  • Work to create media plans according to strategic goals set by Investor Relations, Strategy, M&A and Media Relations Leader and Chief Communications Officer

  • Accountable for delivering press releases and other media-facing materials – writing, producing and coordinating this content

  • Work closely with appropriate departments (i.e., IR, Legal, Government Affairs) to ensure accurate and timely reporting

  • Navigate communications with appropriate government agencies and partner with government affairs and industry affairs for special situation communications

  • Support the arrangement of media interview opportunities for senior management at industry and Agriculture trade media conferences – and oversee the media relations approach for these conferences, coordinating the implementation of the company’s presence at these events

  • Coordinate agency support on daily media monitoring for select (targeted) media analysis – providing direction to agencies as needed

  • With support of the digital communications team, maintain the company’s News Center website


What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Bachelor’s degree required in journalism, communications, public relations or related field

  • 5+ years integrated media relations experience, including digital / social media, either in house or agency

  • Strong relationship focus, with ability to maintain and establish new relationships among key journalists, with established media relationships preferred

  • Prior top-tier media or related experience preferred

  • Understanding of Agriculture industry and general understanding of government affairs, industry affairs and regulatory affairs procedures, as well as the value of sustainability and philanthropy preferred

  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor with executives and in media training / briefing environments

  • Strong presence as a spokesperson, particularly with trade media

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Proven self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Proven experience generating results, managing relationships and influencing outcomes within a highly matrixed environment

  • Strong attention to detail
