Alkermes, Inc. Intern - Data Science - 13020 in Wilmington, Ohio
As a representative of the MSAT Data Science team, this role will be responsible for supporting manufacturing operations at our Wilmington site. The ideal candidate will be able to acquire, aggregate, and analyze data from disparate production, laboratory, and enterprise data sources. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a drive to build/deepen skillset.
The Data Science Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, working with validated GMP systems and environments. You will also gain practical experience with JMP, SCADA, and Snowflake -- enhancing your skill set and preparing you for a successful career in data science.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the organization of a new database system into insightful views (in Snowflake), enabling efficient data analysis and decision-making processes
- Conduct system audits and create design documentation of system structure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven insights and develop solutions to enhance manufacturing operations
- Help with day-to-day requests and assist in timely system corrections
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Intermediate understanding of SQL and database management
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JSL, Python, or Java
- Experience with data visualization tools such as JMP, matplotlib, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Capacity to multi-task
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborating as part of a team
- Flexibility with changing priorities
- Interest in taking on unfamiliar tasks
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The Data Science Intern position is largely desk-based in a cubicle environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The Data Science Intern will be required to work at a computer for extended periods of time
