Description
The Installer Lead will assist the Supervisor in managing the Hoist Installation department. Hoist Installing is the process of installing a hoist to a truck chassis. Hoist installation is a multi-function position requiring welding operation, torch operation, grinding, hand tool & power tool operation, truck layout, print reading, and operational testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Team Lead is responsible in assisting the Supervisor in maintaining a safe department at all times and must wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing all duties; they must also ensure that the employees they supervise do the same, and they must stop work immediately if they observe any non-compliance.
In the Supervisors absence, the Team Lead will Immediately report all accidents as well as near miss incidents to the General Manager and EHS personnel, actively participates in investigative and prevention activities to ensure that the same type of incident does not reoccur.
The Team Lead must maintain an open, honest and respectful relationship with his/her direct reports, they must lead by example, share knowledge openly and work to achieve what is best for the team as a whole.
The Team Lead will assist the Supervisor to ensure that 5-S is practiced within their assigned area; all common tools will be returned to their defined place when not in use and the work area must be cleaned and free from debris once the daily work has been completed. If a tool, part, etc. does not have a defined space to be stored, the Team Lead will assist the Supervisor in meeting with the team to establish one.
The Team Lead will assist the Supervisor in leading his/her department in the pursuit of continuous improvement, always looking for and encouraging others to look for improvement opportunities in their assigned tasks as well as the plant as a whole.
Team Lead will continue to perform his/her Hoist Installation duties as follows:
Review the truck chassis with the model of hoist to be mounted and plan out what steps are necessary to complete the installation. This includes modifications to truck chassis for required hoist clearances
Mechanical: Use of hand tools & power tools are necessary to performs hoist installation
MIG Weld along vertical & horizontal weld lines and examine welds for bead size and other specifications. This also includes torch set up & use
Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or splatter
Employee operates drill press, band saw, parts washer, & overhead hoist
Installation of basic electric and hydraulics (installing PTO’s and hydraulic pumps)
Able to pass the EHS Safety Training
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• 1-3 months of related experience and/or training preferred.• Previous mechanical experience preferred.• Basic math, tape measure reading, fractions and decimals• Knowledge of electric, hydraulics and pneumatics preferred.• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
• Use of hand tools, equipment, and machinery required.• Must be able to stand and walk at all times.• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently• Must be able to climb frequently• Must be able to endure exposure to grease, oil, dirt, and dust on a frequent basis• Must be able to endure noise and vibration on a frequent basis.• Must be able to endure fumes and smoke on a regular basis.
