The Blow Mold Process Technician is responsible for following work instructions to set up programming and raw materials required to produce quality blow mold parts/products to set quality specifications and standards.

Essential Function

  • Follow work order instructions and production schedule
  • Properly clean and prepare blow mold machines for the production of new product
  • Load programming and verify settings result in the production of quality parts/products
  • Identify raw materials required and coordinate with other departments to load material into machines
  • Coordinate with quality department to obtain first article approvals for productions to begin
  • Troubleshoot using root cause analysis processes
  • Make advanced programming machine and tooling adjustments to maintain the production of quality products to meet quality specifications and standards

The following activities are performed at each shift change, and also when no machines are near startup:

  • Check material levels (color, regrind, and resin) at each machine against the work order, making adjustments as needed to maintain conformance to customer specifications
  • Regrind percent must be monitored and maintained according to work order
  • Check cycle times against the work order and management instructions
  • Perform visual inspections for streaks, blowholes, and any other imperfections that might arise during normal production; make machine adjustments as needed
  • Clear grinders and fill heads

Competencies

  • Understanding of machine operation and how to check machine temperature and increase temperature appropriately to prepare for machine production
  • Able to calibrate programmer, zero out the machine to ensure accurate machine performance and measurements
  • Obtain customer specifications from the last production run
  • Load program and review specifications in preparation for production
  • Review each early part of conformance/nonconformance to specifications
  • Check cycle time, product weight, and visual integrity of the parts which have not yet received first part approval from the Quality Department.
  • Receive first part approval from QA and begin production in coordination with the safety manager and Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Adhere to safety policies and guidelines
