Summary This position is located at the Great Plains Area Regional Drug Dependency Unit Winnebago Ne. The primary purpose of this position is to abstract and interpret data from medical records for preparation and submission of third-party claims, maintain the medical records, and provide clerical and/or administrative support to DDU management. Incumbent also assists with the records management responsibility for thefacility. Responsibilities Acts as receptionist for the office, receiving visitors and referring them through proper channels to obtain information that mav be outside of the GPARDDU. Provides new patients intake materials, enters au new patient information into electronic medical systems including updating information for subsequent appointments Will provide written monthly reports and occasional oral reports with regards to activities and accomplishments. In addition, appropriate case documentation will be done after each client contact. In conjunction with patient registration, screens for potential 3rd party eligible patients. Works with Social Services and other disciplines that may assist In developing a register of eligible through their current activities related to determining the health status of the elderly. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-4: I have one year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-4 level. OR 2 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. GS-5: I have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include Initiate and distribute authorizations after determining patient eligibility; Contact state agencies to determine medical eligibility within jurisdiction; Maintain files of elective procedures; Schedule admissions; Obtain information regarding patient billing. OR I have 4 years of education above the high school level. GS-6: I have one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Determine patient eligibility as a prerequisite to the authorization of funds; Determine alternate resources available to patients; Conduct personal interviews with patients and/or family members; Maintain an automated system to ensure the accurate accountability of funds; Ensure consistency and correct use of document coding. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. This position has promotion potential to the GS-6 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval.
