Your Opportunity

Our Manitoba Water Resources Team (Winnipeg) has an opportunity for an Intermediate/Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer who will support our Western Canadian teams on hydrologic analysis, dams and water control structures, river engineering and restoration design, flood modeling and mapping, and other related activities. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project in the water resources and hydrotechnical sectors. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include leading small to medium sized hydrotechnical design projects and assignments. Proposal writing and project management abilities would be an asset to the prospective candidate.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead small to medium sized hydrotechnical design projects and assignments and provide hydrotechnical contribution to larger multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Contribute to proposal writing and business development efforts.

  • Lead and review hydrological and hydraulics modelling and civil designs.

  • Document the analysis clearly in MS Excel and MS Word files.

  • Lead and contribute to the writing of reports and design briefs.

  • Coordinate design drawings and specifications.

  • Administer construction contracts and/or construction review as required for a wide variety of water resources related infrastructure and restoration projects.

  • Take responsibility for the quality of written, technical and graphic work, and for completing work on-time and on-budget

  • Contract Administration as required for a wide variety of construction projects

  • Collaborate with Stantec’s multi-disciplinary professionals to successfully deliver some of the most interesting and rewarding infrastructure and restoration projects in Western Canada.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Registration with Engineers and Geoscientist of Manitoba as an engineer or eligible to register.

  • Experienced in hydrologic/hydraulic modelling and the interpretation of results.

  • Experienced in applying civil and hydrotechnical engineering methods to design of infrastructure, flood mitigations and restorations in river, wetland and coastal environments.

  • Experienced with construction tender, review and administration.

  • Experienced in leading and supporting multi-disciplinary technical teams

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality technical writing (e.g. reports and/or proposals) will be considered an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Water Resources, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.

  • Minimum 10-years’ experience in applied water resources/hydrotechnical engineering as consultant or owner.

This job involves work in a typical office and hybrid-office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include some travel and exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
