Job Description

Lead Teacher for Child Care classroom to provide a successful, safe, and nurturing environment for children enrolled in the Child Development Child Care classroom. The Lead Teacher will develop and deliver interactive learning that engages and educates young children. Develop individual goals, provide ongoing assessment of the developmental progress, and facilitate transitions into kindergarten. Encourage parent-family community engagement involvement in all aspects of the program.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Develops and implement a developmentally appropriate, multicultural curriculum for children.

2. Works cooperatively with support staff in providing direct services and developing goals for children with disabilities.

3. Participates daily in the team planning of curriculum with a teacher assistant, using and encouraging appropriate input from parents;

4. Implements federal, state, and local health and safety policies and procedures; NC Day Care regulations.

5. Ensure the learning environment supports the development of all children's social/emotional, cognitive, language/literacy, and physical development (using translators when necessary).

6. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of the children.

7. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.

8. Tracks children's progress and reports to parents

9. Maintain a clean and tidy classroom

10. Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills

11. Provide appropriate supervision for children at all ties

12. Maintain an inventory system for classroom materials and supplies.

13. Facilitate various activities for children, including songs, games, and storytelling

14. Works cooperatively with support staff in providing direct services and developing goals for children with disabilities.

15. Prepare classroom materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans; create and change learning centers as needed.

16. Maintains confidential records as federal, state, and local mandates require.

17. Collaborates with the Teacher Assistant in a manner that will promote a team teaching approach.

18. Adheres to protocols and procedures for active supervision.

19. Adheres to health and safety and sanitation procedures

20. Must adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times.

21. Performs such other duties as incumbent upon the position and as assigned

22. Participates in workshops, meetings, and community events (e.g., partner meetings, conferences, etc.) to receive and/or present information.

Skills and Requirements

Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent

And Either:

* NC Early Childhood Credential (earned by completing EDU 111 and 112 or EDU 119 and meeting the above criteria) with experience working with children.

* Child Development Association-CDA Preschool with experience working with children

* Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education

* Completed a post-secondary two-year degree or higher in any subject area with at least 6* sch in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Growth & Development from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Completed 12 sch (with or without a degree) in Early Childhood, Child Development, Human Growth & Development, and/or Early Childhood Special Education programs with at least 3* sch in Child Growth & Development from an accredited institution of higher education

OR

* Completed and hold a currently active Level I or higher certification on the Early Care and Education Professional (ECE) scale issued by the NC Institute for Child Development Professionals (upload a copy of the certificate or letter). * Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Family, and Consumer Science, or related field; 1 year of classroom experience

* Current driver's license and car with the ability to travel between various centers and criminal background clearance; physical examinations, TB test

* First Aide/CPR null
